Wednesday (11/05/2022). Still in the atmosphere of Eid al-Fitr 1443 H, the extended family of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Indonesia held a virtual Halal Bi Halal through platform Zoom Meeting.
This event, which is an annual routine activity of FMIPA UI after completing the fast and Eid holiday, was held to strengthen ties by forgiving each other.
The activity, which was also broadcasted live through the official FMIPA UI Official YouTube channel, invited Ust. Achmad Solechan, S.Si., M.Si., the Chief Executive of the Ukhuwah Islamiyah UI Mosque to give a sermon.
The event agenda was opened with the reading of the holy verses of the Qur’an by Bintari Yuniati Mauliana, S. Si. and the recitation by Bintang Mahakarya, followed by remarks from the Dean of FMIPA, Dede Djuhana, Ph. D.
“I express my gratitude Alhamdulillah because we are still given faith and Islam, health, long life, and other gifts that cannot be mentioned,” said Dede Djuhana, Ph. D. starting his speech.
“In this halalbihalal moment, we are united to strengthen our relationship, forgive each other for intentional and unintentional mistakes. Let us not forget to pray for our predecessors who have built FMIPA UI with hard work and struggle, with blood and tears. Of course, let us not forget to pray for our parents who have gone before us,” he added.
The Head of the Faculty Academic Senate (SAF) Dr.rer.nat. Eko Kusratmoko in his short speech said “On behalf of the faculty academic senate and on behalf of myself, I wish you a happy Eid al-Fitr 1443 Hijri, may Allah SWT accept all of our fasting deeds. Hopefully, during Eid we will become more pious people so that we can carry out our professions as teachers and employees even better.”
In line with the chairman of SAF, the Chairman of the Faculty Professor Council (DGBF) Prof. Dr. Sumi Hudiyono, PWS said, “On behalf of the FMIPA UI professor council, we would like to wish you a happy Eid al-Fitr 1443 Hijri. Please forgive all mistakes and errors both as individuals and as an organ of DGBF. We hope that after continuing our relationship more intensively, our enthusiasm and work performance will increase.”
Ustad Achmad Solechan in his sermon explained that halal bi halal is a tradition inherited from the archipelago that should be appreciated by all Indonesian Muslims. This is because halal bi halal is a good moment for humans to forgive each other with an open heart for mistakes and errors that are thrown at each other, both intentionally and unintentionally. This attitude of mutual forgiveness is what will save humans from punishment in the afterlife.
“In Indonesia, we have a good tradition (Halal Bi Halal). We are lucky, because it has become a cultural tradition, but it can save us in the afterlife. Save us from bankruptcy (in the afterlife),” said Ustad Achmad.
He further said that in this special moment, all humans become equal in terms of forgiving each other regardless of their background, position and social status.
“In halal bi halal, it seems as if there is no distance between people to forgive each other, whether the strong are against the weak, or the leaders also do not feel reluctant to apologize to their subordinates,” he said.
Finally, he emphasized that the essence of the halal bi halal tradition is to strengthen ties by forgiving each other. With silaturahmi, everyone can understand that humans do have many differences with each other. The differences that exist between humans, according to him, are a gift given by Allah SWT as the creator.
“These differences are not for us to fight, but for us to manage, to foster so that they become something potential and useful,” concluded the Chairperson of the Ukhuwah Islamiyah UI Mosque before closing the lecture.
This moment of intimacy became even more touching with the presence of retired lecturers and educators (tendik) of FMIPA UI. The Dean specially invited the retirees and their representatives to receive a certificate of appreciation as an expression of gratitude for their services and dedication while serving at FMIPA UI. A total of 13 Lecturers and 18 retired tendik received the award.
As the closing event, Prof. Dr. Alhadi Bustamam, M.Kom., Ph.D. read the closing prayer. And the event ended with greetings delivered by the leaders and heads of organizations in the FMIPA UI environment.
