FMIPA UI Introduces International Special Class Program to High School Students in Depok

Depok, 8 April 2026 – The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at Universitas Indonesia (FMIPA UI), through its International Class Team, conducted a promotional outreach for the International Special Class Program (KKI) at two senior high schools, namely SMAN 1 Depok on Monday (April 6) and SMA Islam Dian Didaktika on Tuesday (April 7). This activity is part of FMIPA UI’s strategy to introduce the International Special Class Program (KKI), which is officially launched in 2026 for undergraduate (S1) programs in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.

The promotional session at SMAN 1 Depok was attended by 12th-grade students, while at SMA Islam Dian Didaktika it was joined by students from grades 10 to 12. The highest enthusiasm was seen among 10th and 11th graders who showed strong interest in science and technology (STEM).

The FMIPA UI team was led by Asri Oktavioni Indraswari, S.T., M.Sc., Assistant Manager for Curriculum and International Class Affairs, along with staff members Yazid Al Muntashir, S.Si., And M. Gamal Fauzi Gymnastyar, S.Si., presented the faculty profile, study programs, admission pathways to UI, as well as academic and career development opportunities for graduates.

“We want students to become familiar with learning opportunities at FMIPA UI from an early stage, especially through international programs that provide global exposure,” said Asri Oktavioni Indraswari, who is commonly known as Noni.

The FMIPA UI International Special Class Program (KKI) offers a globally standardized learning experience, with English as the medium of instruction and lecturers with international experience. Students can choose between two international program schemes:

  • Single degree: primary study at FMIPA UI with the opportunity to participate in a one-semester exchange program at a partner international university.
  • Double degree: in collaboration with University of Queensland, Australia, allowing students to complete the final two years of their studies in Australia, earn dual degrees, and gain the opportunity to apply for a graduate visa to work in Australia.

The KKI program, particularly the single and double degree schemes in Biology and Chemistry with the University of Queensland, has also been included in the list of recipients Beasiswa Garuda from the Kementerian Pendidikan Tinggi, Sains, dan Teknologi (Kemdiktisaintek), which provides full support for tuition fees and study-related expenses.

“Through this activity, we hope students not only understand study options in the field of science, but are also motivated to pursue higher education with a global perspective,” added Noni, emphasizing the importance of direct interaction with prospective students.

This school outreach initiative is part of FMIPA UI’s commitment to expanding access to quality higher education information and attracting top prospective students from diverse backgrounds, while also nurturing a new generation of outstanding young Indonesian scientists who are ready to compete at the international level.
