FMIPA UI Welcomes the National Formosa University Taiwan Delegation in the 2026 Study and Internship Seminar

The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at Universitas Indonesia (FMIPA UI), as one of Indonesia’s leading science faculties, continues to promote international collaboration to strengthen the quality of education and research. One of its key initiatives is the Study and Internship Seminar Program in Taiwan, which provides international research experience for Mathematics Department students while also expanding their academic and cultural networks.

As part of this program, FMIPA UI welcomed a delegation from National Formosa University (NFU) Taiwan, consisting of Professor Robert Yen-Kun Lin, Director of the Office of International Affairs at NFU, and Ms. Peggy Pei-Rong Jiang, Project Coordinator at the Office of International Affairs NFU. The visit took place on Thursday, 27 November 2025, at the Department of Mathematics, FMIPA UI.

The delegation was welcomed by the leadership of the Department of Mathematics, namely Dr. Dra. Yekti Widyaningsih, M.Si., Dr. Hengki Tasman, Dr. Nahlia, as well as Jesica Michele, a student who participated in the Talent Internship Program in 2024.

Dr. Yekti Widyaningsih stated, “This program provides our students with the opportunity to engage in international research and to strengthen academic collaboration with NFU.”

The series of events began with a presentation by Prof. Robert Yen-Kun Lin on study and internship opportunities at NFU, followed by a presentation from Ms. Peggy Pei-Rong Jiang regarding funding support and facilities. The session continued with a discussion and Q&A.

Prof. Robert Lin expressed his interest in recruiting students from the UI Department of Mathematics for research at NFU as an appreciation for the UI Statistics students who participated in the previous program. Their contributions helped Prof. Robert produce four publications in Q1 and Q2 international journals within six months.

“I am very pleased with the work of Jesica and Audrey, who assisted me in analyzing research data and helped produce four papers in six months,” said Prof. Robert Lin.

The seminar concluded with the exchange of mementos and a group photo session, symbolizing the strengthened collaboration between FMIPA UI and NFU Taiwan. This program reaffirms FMIPA UI’s commitment to providing international experiences for students and to enhancing the faculty’s reputation as a leading center of science.
