The Actuarial Science Undergraduate Program Attracted Visitors to the FMIPA UI Booth at UI Open Days 2018

Depok, Saturday (3/3) FMIPA UI again participated in the education exhibition organized by the University of Indonesia, namely UI Open Days 2018. This UI-wide education exhibition lasted until Sunday (4/3).

UI Open Days, an introductory event for UI’s educational programs and university entrance pathways, provides information on the Regular Undergraduate Program, Parallel Undergraduate Program, International Special Class Undergraduate Program, Extension Undergraduate Program, Vocational Program (D3), and Postgraduate Program. UI Open Days participants receive a wealth of information from trusted sources about the SNMPTN, SBMPTN, and SIMAK-UI.

More than 30,000 people attended the sixth UI Open Days. They came from all over Indonesia. Most of them were 12th-grade high school students who would soon be continuing their education at university. They hoped to study at the University of Indonesia.

In addition, several parents of students also visited UI Open Days 2018, and there were also several prospective postgraduate students (Masters & Doctoral).

The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) UIboothitself was also crowded with visitors. According to the attendance list, more than 1,000 visitors crowded  the Faculty’sbooth, which was predominantly decorated in blue and black, each day. Most of them were curious about the newly opened study program at FMIPA UI, the Undergraduate Program in Actuarial Science.

The Actuarial Science Bachelor’s program seemed to be a particular draw for visitors to the FMIPA UI booth. This was because the program, which only opened registration this year, was still relatively unknown among high school students.

The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) UI’s booth guides, consisting of public relations officers and final-year students, provided visitors with information about the new study program, covering the entry routes for the Actuarial Science undergraduate program (SBMPTN and SNMPTN), as well as the opportunities and roles of actuaries in the financial industry.

In addition to looking for information on the Actuarial Science Undergraduate Study Program, many visitors also asked about other undergraduate study programs at FMIPA UI, namely Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography, Geology and Geophysics.

On the second day, visitors had the opportunity to attend a presentation session about FMIPA UI, starting from the entrance pathway, study programs, tuition fees to the courses and learning methods they will receive after being accepted as FMIPA UI students.

This presentation was delivered directly by Dr. Tech. Djoko Triyono as the Vice Dean for Education, Research, and Student Affairs of FMIPA UI.
