UI Opens Doctoral Program in Physics

The University of Indonesia opened a new study program in 2017, namely the Doctoral Program in Physics, which is under the Department of Physics, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, UI. Prospective new UI students for the 2017/2018 academic year can choose this new study program through the SIMAK UI 2017 exam. The capacity of this Doctoral Program in Physics is 40 students.

The Physics Department of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Indonesia, previously had a doctoral program, but only for the Materials Physics subfield. In addition to Materials Physics, the Department has five other subfields focused on by its teaching staff:

  1. Fisika Nuklir dan Partikel (Nuclear and Particle Physics)
  2. Fisika Materi Terkondensasi (Condensed-Matter Physics)
  3. Fisika Instrumentasi (Instrumentation Physics)
  4. Geofisika (Geophysics)
  5. Fisika Medis dan Biofisika (Medical Physics and Biophysics)

The Doctoral Program in Physics offers two study paths: 1. Research Pathway, and 2. Lecture and Research Pathway (Conventional). The Doctoral Program in Physics is held at the UI Depok and Salemba campuses. Entry requirements for prospective students are Masters graduates in Physics or a relevant field with a minimum GPA of 3.00. Specifically for the Research Pathway, prospective students must have 2 scientific publications (journals or proceedings) and submit a research proposal that is in line with their field of interest.

Graduates of the Physics Study Program are qualified to solve various scientific and technological problems based on research methodologies and physics concepts. Therefore, there is a need for experts who can conduct research to advance science and address future challenges.
