Welcoming New Graduate Students, FMIPA UI Holds Introduction to Faculty Academic System

On Friday (January 27, 2023), the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Indonesia (FMIPA UI), held an Introduction to the Faculty Academic System (PSAF) activity for new graduate students admitted for the even semester 2022/2023 period, at the Sinarmas Hall, Multidisciplinary Laboratory Building FMIPA UI – PT Pertamina, UI Campus, Depok.

The event, attended by the Heads of Study Programs (Kaprodi) within FMIPA UI, served as an introduction to the academic system and matters related to lectures within the FMIPA UI environment.

The Vice Dean for Education, Research, and Student Affairs at FMIPA UI, Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Budiawan, said the event also served to welcome new graduate students from the master’s and doctoral programs for the even semester 2022/2023 admission period.

In his speech, Prof. Budiawan said, “FMIPA UI has a vision and mission to enhance its academic reputation both nationally and internationally. With this vision and mission, of course, the programs we design are intended to enable students to collectively achieve these goals.”

Furthermore, he said that over the past five years, FMIPA UI’s academic achievements have ranked among the top three at UI. According to him, this accomplishment is inseparable from the research outcomes, national and international journals, as well as other academic achievements attained by lecturers and students in the graduate programs.

To his students, he also emphasized that the leadership of FMIPA UI, whether at the faculty, department, or study program level, is ready to provide guidance and input to help students complete their studies quickly and efficiently, in accordance with their capacity and regulations.

Therefore, he advised his new graduate students not to hesitate to discuss and consult with their academic advisors or respective heads of study programs to receive guidance or input if they encounter any obstacles and challenges during their studies.

“Get to know this process, observe and participate in this event carefully. If during your studies you encounter any obstacles and challenges, don’t hesitate to discuss and consult with your academic advisor or the head of your study program, because we are ready to provide guidance and input,” he said.

He hopes that through this activity, all new graduate students at FMIPA UI will gain an overview of academic and research activities, as well as guidance in completing the tasks they will undertake during their study period.

“Our hope is that this event will provide an overview of how students can carry out their lectures, research, and complete their assignments,” he said in closing his remarks.
