4 FMIPA UI Study Programs Undergo ASIIN International Visitation

As an effort to strengthen its position at the international level. FMIPA UI proposed 4 (four) Undergraduate Study Programs (Prodi) to obtain international accreditation through the Accreditation Agency for Engineering, Informatics, Natural Sciences and Mathematics (ASIIN). The 4 study programs are Mathematics, Physics, Biology, and Geography.

ASIIN itself is an independent institution based in Germany for quality assurance of a degree program in the disciplines of Engineering, informatics, natural sciences, and mathematics. Since 2000, ASIIN has had the right to provide an accreditation stamp from the German Accreditation Council, in addition to the ASIIN quality stamp. ASIIN is registered in the European Quality Assurance Register for Higher Education (EQAR) until August 31, 2026. EQAR is included in the list of accreditation registers recognized by the Indonesian government.

The four study programs began undergoing a series of online visitations/audits by the ASIIN peer review/assessor team on February 21-23, 2022. The ASIIN Peers consist of Prof. Dr. Péter Bagoly-Simó (Geography – Humboldt-University Berlin), Prof. Dr. Robert Hänsch (Biology – Technical University Braunschweig), Prof. Dr. Roth Stefan (Physics – RWTH Aachen University), Prof. Dr. Frank Loose (Mathematics – University of Tübingen), Silke Bargstädt-Franke (Industry – Federal Office for Information Security), Luthfia Hastifa (Student – Hasanuddin University), and Dr. Daniel Seegers (Secretariat – ASIIN).

Although the series of visitation activities had to be carried out online amidst the Covid-19 pandemic, he still hopes that the activities can run smoothly and provide the best results for FMIPA UI.

“However, I believe this situation will not affect or reduce the purpose and essence of this accreditation,” he added.

Silaban, M.Kom. as well as Head of ASIIN Team of FMIPA UI said that his party has carried out various series of activities with lecturers, students, and alumni, to be able to succeed in the visitation process which is the most important part in obtaining international accreditation. The activities include socialization and simulation to students, lecturers and alumni.

Not only that, continued Dr. Denny, because the visitation was carried out online, his team built a special page containing interactive videos and photos to show the laboratories and other supporting facilities for lectures at FMIPA to the ASIIN peer review. The page can be accessed through the FMIPA UI website.

“Through this page, ASIIN Peers can see in detail the real conditions at FMIPA UI, especially for the campus facilities. So that it can make it easier for Peers to make assessments and reviews,” said Dr. Denny.

In the closing session held on Wednesday, February 23, 2022, ASIIN peer reviewers provided a summary of their impressions of the four study programs audited. closing statement from the Vice Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs.
