The FMIPA UI line dance team, consisting of three lecturers—Dr. Dewi Susiloningtyas, M.Si., Dra. Astrid Damayanti, M.Si., and Revi Hernina, M.Si.—two administrative staff members, Sri Sukarsih, S.Pd., and Bintari Yuniati Mauliana, S.Si., as well as one student, Marcella Sintauly (Mathematics 2020), won 1st place in the line dance competition held as part of UI’s 73rd anniversary celebration.
This was announced during the peak celebration of UI’s 73rd anniversary at Balairung, UI Campus, Depok, on Wednesday (22/2/2023). On the same occasion, as the 1st place winner, the team had the opportunity to perform live in front of UI leaders, academic community members, and the extended UI family at Balairung.
Dr. Dewi Susiloningtyas, M.Si., as the team leader, explained that her team chose the background music “Bajing Luncat,” a pop Sunda song originating from West Java, with a slight remix of disco music arrangements, making the beat feel stronger.

She also chose team costumes with a Sundanese theme, predominantly gold yellow and red, complete with Sundanese siger headdresses, to match the strong character of the background music.
“The costume tends to have a Sundanese vibe with the Sieger, but it has been slightly modified and combined,” said Dr. Dewi to the FMIPA UI Public Relations team.
As for the choreography, Dr. Dewi said she collaborated with Ning Puspa, a choreographer from the Indonesian Dance Step Association Central.
Previously, the team’s work was uploaded on the FMIPA UI Official YouTube channel. So far, the FMIPA UI line dance video on the channel has received 376 likes and 1.9 thousand views.
The winner was determined based on the judges’ evaluation, which included choreography, movement variation, teamwork, expression, and costume.
