The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) of the University of Indonesia (UI) once again achieved success in the 2018 National Mathematics and Natural Sciences Olympiad for Higher Education (ON MIPA-PT), organized by the Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education.
After a regional selection process held on March 21-22, 2018, in 17 cities, 256 participants (64 students per field) qualified for the national selection. The Faculty sent 28 participants, consisting of seven from each department (Mathematics, Physics, Biology, and Chemistry).
During the announcement of the 2018 ON MIPA-PT national selection, held on the 9th floor of GKB IV Building, Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang, on May 6, 2018, the Faculty successfully contributed several winners from some of its top teams.
From the biology department, Muhammad Ikhsan won a gold medal, Bagus Setiyo Aji won a bronze medal and Ita Rosiana won a gold medal. Honorable Mention.
The mathematics department also won bronze medals (Aji Luhur B.I.F., Rio Fandi D., and Valentino Prasetya), while Stefanus Ng and Andry Wijaya earned Honorable Mentions. Honorable Mention.
Furthermore, from the physics department, Wilwin won a silver medal, Gian Parusa a bronze medal, and Stanley Austin S. won a silver medal from the chemistry department.
