On Friday morning (December 21st), the parking lot of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) UI dean’s office building looked different. The area, which was usually filled with private four-wheeled vehicles, had transformed into a place of excitement.
That morning, more than three hundred members of the FMIPA UI academic community, consisting of lecturers, students, staff, and alumni, gathered to celebrate the 58th anniversary of the faculty, which fell on that day.
A fun run was the main event of this year’s FMIPA UI anniversary celebration. Participants were all FMIPA UI academics who had registered for free by filling out an online form.
The event began with group exercise, led by instructors on the main stage.

The participants appeared very enthusiastic. Besides the opportunity to gather, they also had the opportunity to win 58 consolation prizes by being among the 58 fastest runners.
The Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Indonesia (UI), Dr. rer. nat. Abdul Haris, symbolically opened the race by raising the flag to signal the start of the race.

Among the hundreds of participants, Haris and his staff were also seen taking part in the fun run.

Following the race, the winners were announced and prizes were presented directly by the Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Indonesia. Despite their fatigue, the participants were still beaming with joy.
On this occasion, the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Indonesia (FMIPA UI), also presented symbolic awards to all FMIPA UI students who had achieved academic and non-academic achievements, at both the national and international levels.
The cutting of the tumpeng (rice cone) by the Dean marked the culmination of the FMIPA UI anniversary celebrations, an expression of gratitude. Haris also expressed his pride in the high level of interest shown by the FMIPA UI academic community in enlivening this event.
He continued, saying that in addition to the running, the event also served as a fun way to share and foster a sense of camaraderie. He also commended the event’s committee, who he believed had carried out their duties well.
“Hopefully, the sense of camaraderie among the FMIPA UI community will grow stronger, and the good relationships with alumni from various classes will be further fostered, as well as with partners,” Haris said.

Echoing Haris, UI Rector Prof. Dr. Ir. Muhammad Anis, M.Met., on the same occasion, in his remarks expressed his gratitude and pride for the achievements of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) UI in its 58th anniversary. He expressed his hope that FMIPA UI would progress further in the future and produce skilled scientists capable of addressing global challenges
The event concluded with the announcement of the winners of several door prizes, including cooking utensils, skincare products, mobile phones, and other electronic devices. The lively door prize distribution was accompanied by musical entertainment.
Also in attendance were FMIPA UI partners, including representatives from BNI 46, Bank Syariah Mandiri (BSM), and Sinarmas, who also sponsored the event.
