Today (2/5/2019) at Building B, Room 101, FMIPA UI held the Tarhib Ramadhan 1440 H activity. This activity is routinely held every year in order to welcome the holy month of Ramadhan.
The event was attended by the leadership, teaching staff, administrative staff, and students of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Indonesia (FMIPA UI). Also present was the Chair of the FMIPA UI Alumni Association, Ms. Pamela Cardinale.
The agenda was opened with the reading of the holy verses of the Qur’an, a speech from the dean, a sermon by KH Abdul Mujib, the caretaker of the Assa’adah Islamic Boarding School, Depok, and closed with a prayer together, shaking hands, and having lunch together.

In his remarks, the Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Indonesia (UI), Dr. rer. nat. Abdul Haris, stated that this Ramadan tarhib is a good opportunity for self-reflection, mutual friendship and forgiveness, as well as mental, spiritual, and intellectual preparation to welcome the distinguished guest, the holy month of Ramadan.
“This is important as we cleanse ourselves, forgive each other, and prepare ourselves for the meaningful holy month of Ramadan,” said Haris.
On behalf of the leadership, he also apologized to all staff and students. He acknowledged that as a leader, he was not free from mistakes and shortcomings.
“Let’s all broaden our hearts and cleanse our hearts, because we, as leaders, certainly have limitations,” Haris concluded.
