The Geophysics Undergraduate Study Program, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Indonesia, Undergoes its First Accreditation Visit

For the first time since its establishment two years ago, the Geophysics Undergraduate Program underwent accreditation on Monday morning (11/13). As part of the accreditation process, two assessors were present for the visit: Prof. Dr. Kirbani Sri Brotopuspito (UGM) and Prof. Dr. Ir. Mitra Djamal, M.Sc. (ITB).

The two assessors were welcomed in Meeting Room A of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, UI Dean’s Building by Dr. Rokhmatuloh, M.Eng., Deputy Dean for Field II.

Present at this visitation were Education Manager Dr. Dian Lestari, Cooperation Manager Dr. Tito Latif Indra, Research Manager Dr. Djoko Triyono, Head of UPMA Dr. Ratna Yuniati, and Head of the Geophysics Undergraduate Study Program Dr. Eng. Supriyanto.

Dr. Eng. Supriyanto, Head of the Geophysics Undergraduate Study Program, hopes that the accreditation visitation process will run as smoothly as possible so that the desired results can be achieved.

Geophysics is one of the new study programs at the University of Indonesia and is highly sought after by prospective students. In 2015, 1,882 prospective students from across Indonesia registered through the SBMPTN (National Selection for State Universities) and SIMAK (Similar to the University of Indonesia) entrance exams. This is despite the program’s capacity being limited to 60 seats. Competition for admission to these two programs is arguably the highest compared to other programs at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) at UI.
