Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Indonesia (UI) Successfully Holds the 2023 UTBK Wave 1

The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Indonesia (FMIPA UI) is once again the location for the Computer-Based Written Examination (UTBK) of the National Selection Based on Tests (SNBT) as one of the selection pathways for new student admissions at State Universities (PTN) in 2023.

The 2023 UTBK-SNBT activities will be held in 2 waves, namely the first wave on May 8-14, 2023 and the second wave which will be held on May 22-28, 2023. There are two locations for the 2023 UTBK activities at FMIPA UI, namely at the Multidisciplinary Research Laboratory Building of FMIPA UI – PT Pertamina (Persero) and the Geography Department Building (Building H), UI Campus, Depok, with a total of 7 rooms used and a total participant capacity of 155 people in each session.

The Field Supervisor (PJL) for the UTBK activities at FMIPA UI, Awal Setiawan, revealed that the essential thing in implementing UTBK at FMIPA UI is the synergy of all related teams, namely the security team, health, supervisors, facility managers, including technicians.

“The entire team has made various preparations, starting from socialization, exam simulations, training and providing materials on the supervisory application for the supervisory team, as well as trials, network techniques, understanding of the Windows and MacOS operating systems for the room technician team, so that they are able to carry out troubleshooting when needed,” said Awal.

However, he stated that high vigilance is also crucial to prevent cheating practices and the implementation of the UTBK. This precautionary measure is implemented by the proctoring team by conducting physical checks on participants before entering the exam room. The proctors will also not hesitate to take firm action against participants according to applicable regulations if any violations of the rules are found.

Next, Awal and the UI FMIPA UTBK team made preparations for the second wave, including rechecking the readiness of all PCs, checking the internet network in coordination with the UI FMIPA IT team, and testing the exam application. These checks were conducted simultaneously at all exam locations within the UI campus on Friday (May 19, 2023). The team also made technical arrangements for participant mobilization in preparation for entering and exiting the exam room.

“The technical arrangements are still using the same system as the first wave, which we consider quite effective and orderly,” he said.

Awal emphasized that he and his team would maintain synergy to provide the best efforts to continue the success of the first wave into the next wave.

“We are maintaining synergy between teams for the implementation of the second wave, and we hope everything runs smoothly,” he added, concluding the interview with the UI FMIPA public relations team.
