Veronica Angelina, an alumna of the Bachelor of Mathematics study program at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Indonesia (FMIPA UI), is ready to represent West Papua in the 2023 Puteri Indonesia beauty contest.
The owner of the full name Veronica Angelina Windy Hapsari was selected by the judges through a central audition held at Graha Mustika Ratu, Jakarta, on Friday, March 10, 2023.
The Puteri Indonesia Foundation as the organizer has officially announced that the national stage of the competition will take place at the Jakarta Convention Center in Jakarta on May 19, 2023 with the theme “Through Puteri Indonesia, we are building a young generation with integrity, upholding cultural diversity as a new meaning of beauty.”.
Veronica made various preparations to compete against the superiority of the other regional finalists. This included honing her skills. public speaking hingga modeling.

Vero, Veronica Angelina’s nickname, was born in Jakarta on June 28, 1997. She told the FMIPA UI public relations team that since childhood, she had aspired to compete in beauty pageants, specifically Puteri Indonesia. In September 2020, she competed in the Puteri Pariwisata pageant and won the title of “Talented Puteri Pariwisata 2020.”
“Since I was little, I really wanted to take part in beauty pageants (pageant), especially Puteri Indonesia. Then, in 2023, I decided to register, and I am very grateful to have been given the opportunity to represent West Papua by the Puteri Indonesia Foundation and Mustika Ratu,” Vero told the FMIPA UI public relations team.
However, for her, becoming Miss Indonesia West Papua 2023 is not just a title, but also a responsibility that must be carried out as well as possible, along with the crown and sash she wears.
“I am very happy because my dream come true“On the other hand, there are challenges. But I’m confident that when God chose me to represent West Papua, I must be an extension of God’s hand to be a blessing to the people of West Papua,” he added.
Currently, this beautiful math enthusiast and piano prodigy is pursuing a career as a risk consultant at a consulting firm in Jakarta. She also teaches music in Jakarta and mathematics in West Papua, Southwest Papua, Jakarta, and Makassar. She will soon begin a term as a visiting lecturer at the Faculty of Administrative Sciences, University of Indonesia.
Vero was accepted into the undergraduate mathematics program at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Indonesia (UI) in 2015 through the SIMAK UI pathway. Despite her educational background in mathematics and science, she has still managed to excel, build a successful career, and contribute to society.
This, Vero said, is because the knowledge she gained from her studies at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Indonesia (FMIPA UI), has developed a logical mindset, utilizing mathematical concepts to provide solutions to problems in accordance with scientific and ethical principles. She also said she has been trained to develop herself according to professional needs and to keep up with developments in science and technology.
“During my studies at FMIPA UI, I learned a lot about the impact and usefulness of a coherent and logical mindset in life,” he said.
Therefore, with the tagline “Mathematics for Nation,” she feels optimistic about taking part in the 2023 Puteri Indonesia pageant.
“This is what I use as the basis for my advocacy, #MathematicsForNation, where I want to help spread the importance of logical and systematic thinking and its usefulness in everyday life,” Vero added.
During his advocacy journey in West Papua and Southwest Papua, the 2018 Outstanding Student in Arts and Culture from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Indonesia (UI) visited schools from kindergarten to high school, as well as several universities to teach motivational classes as an effort to raise awareness of the importance of logical and critical thinking in today’s dynamic life.
After completing her education at FMIPA UI, Veronica then continued her master’s studies at the Faculty of Economics and Business UI majoring in management.
