The FMIPA UI student team consisting of Andriani (Statistics 2017), Allissa Rahman (Statistics 2017), Nurlia Hidayanti (Statistics 2017), and Indri Dayanah (Mathematics 2017) won an award. First Runner-Up Data Analysis Competition IFest UNPAD 2020, held online by the Informatics Engineering Student Association, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Padjadjaran University (UNPAD), was announced by the organizers at the awards ceremony on Sunday (October 11th).
Data Analysis Competition IFest UNPAD 2020 is a national-scale data analysis competition organized by the UNPAD Informatics Engineering Student Association. The competition theme is Mastering the Data to Solve Business Problems This requires participants to examine a dataset to produce the best analysis data.
Akira and the team managed to enter the final round after passing the preliminary stage which was held on September 4 – September 7, 2020. Then they were confirmed to win the title. First Runner-Up after successfully eliminating three of the five teams in the final round which took place on October 10, 2020.
Akira, as the team leader, revealed that in preparation for the competition, they studied and tried to analyze data for certain cases through the lecture materials they had received so far.
One of the team members, Indri, added that her team also prepared the presentation material well so that they could answer the questions that would be asked by the jury.
“Yes, we also practice our presentations so we’re ready to answer questions (from the judges). That’s also something we have to prepare for,” said Indri.
Another member, Allissa, shared motivational words with her fellow students. They hoped their achievements would serve as a motivator for all FMIPA UI students who still doubt their individual abilities to cultivate the courage to excel through various competitions.
“So, there’s a great quote that goes something like, ‘When we participate in a competition, there’s no such thing as losing. There’s only winning or learning.’ This means that if we don’t win in a competition, it’s an opportunity for us to learn so we can do better in future competitions,” added Allissa.
