Depok, June 10, 2026 — The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Indonesia (FMIPA UI), has become the largest contributor to the Universitas Indonesia (UI) contingent that will compete in the 2026 National Mathematics and Natural Sciences Olympiad for Higher Education (ON MIPA-PT) at the national level. Of the 16 students representing UI, 12 are from FMIPA UI.
The send-off ceremony for the contingent was held on Friday, June 5, 2026, at Balai Kirti, the Central Administration Building of Universitas Indonesia, Depok Campus. The event was attended by university and faculty leaders, academic advisors, and student participants who will represent UI in one of the most prestigious science competitions for university students in Indonesia. The 2026 National ON MIPA-PT competition is scheduled to take place from June 8–12, 2026, at Universitas Airlangga in Surabaya.
Prof. Dr. Tito Latif Indra, S.Si., M.Si., Dean of FMIPA UI, expressed his appreciation to all students who successfully advanced through the selection process to the national level. According to Prof. Tito, this achievement reflects the students’ hard work, the support of their academic advisors, and the academic ecosystem continuously fostered at FMIPA UI to nurture outstanding talents in the fields of Mathematics and Natural Sciences.
“The participation of FMIPA UI students in the National ON MIPA-PT is a testament to the strong academic culture and spirit of excellence that continue to thrive within the faculty. We hope that all participants will perform to the best of their abilities, uphold the values of sportsmanship, and bring home achievements that will make both FMIPA UI and Universitas Indonesia proud,” said Prof. Tito.
Support for the contingent was also expressed by Prof. Dr. Hamdi Muluk, M.Si., Vice Rector for Research, Innovation, Students, and Alumni of Universitas Indonesia. In his remarks, he conveyed his appreciation to FMIPA UI for its significant contribution to student development, which enabled the faculty to dominate the UI contingent for the 2026 ON MIPA-PT.
Prof. Hamdi specifically expressed his gratitude to Prof. Dr. Tito Latif Indra, S.Si., M.Si., Dean of FMIPA UI, along with the entire FMIPA UI leadership team, for their support throughout the process—from the internal selection stages to the preparation for the national competition.
He emphasized that success in the competition is determined not only by academic ability but also by the participants’ physical and mental preparedness.
“There are three key factors that determine success in a competition: technique, stamina, and psychological readiness. All three must be prepared well and in balance,” said Prof. Hamdi.
According to him, the students who advanced to the national level represent the very best that Universitas Indonesia has to offer and have a strong opportunity to achieve outstanding results. Therefore, he encouraged all participants to maintain their health, manage the pressures of competition effectively, and remain confident throughout the event.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Student Achievement Subdirectorate of UI, Dr. Retno Lestari, M.Si., in her report explained that all students in the contingent had undergone a multi-stage selection process, starting from the university-level internal selection to regional selection, before finally qualifying for the national level.
“This year, Universitas Indonesia is sending 16 students, consisting of 12 students from FMIPA UI and 4 students from the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Indonesia,” said Dr. Retno.
The twelve FMIPA UI students who will compete in the 2026 National ON MIPA-PT come from four competition fields. In the Mathematics category, UI is represented by Almaas Sulthonu Alandra, Bryant Farrel Titanius, Irfan Hanif Yamashita, and Elizabeth Loretta Wijaya.
