The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Indonesia (FMIPA UI) graduated 8 international students for master’s degree. These international students studied at UI through scholarship schemes, namely the Developing Country Partnership (KNB) scholarship provided by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) of the Republic of Indonesia, and the UI Degree Scholarship for International Students (UI GREAT) which is a superior scholarship program from UI.

The 8 international students who graduated came from 5 countries. They are students from Pakistan totaling 4 graduates, and Palestine, Zimbabwe, Tanzania, and Cambodia with 1 graduate each.

As a form of appreciation for international students this year, Universitas Indonesia through the International Office held “The 2024 Degree Awarding Ceremony for Universitas Indonesia International Students”, on Tuesday (23/7/2024), at the Makara Art Center UI, Depok. At the pre-graduation activity entitled “Unveiling Your Great Dreams”, five graduates with the best Cumulative Achievement Index (IPK) throughout UI were also announced, one of whom came from FMIPA, namely Abdullah H.H. Hassan Palestina from the Mathematics Masters Study Program with a GPA of 3.86.

Vice Dean for Education, Research and Student Affairs FMIPA UI Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Budiawan expressed his pride in the international students who graduated this year. He said, “This moment is not only the end of their academic tasks, but also the beginning of a commitment to build a future full of opportunities. We are confident that the knowledge they gain during their education at FMIPA UI can be a strong foundation for their contributions at the global level, and we hope that these international students can continue to inspire and make a positive impact wherever they are.”

The 2024 Degree Awarding Ceremony for Universitas Indonesia International Students was also attended by 17 representatives from 14 embassies of friendly countries, namely Cambodia, Tanzania, Mexico, Nigeria, Kenya, Fiji, Zimbabwe, the Philippines, Iran, the Republic of Korea, Yemen, Timor-Leste, India, and Pakistan. Also present were representatives from the Directorate General of Immigration of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia (RI) and the Directorate of Institutions of the Directorate General of Higher Education, Research, and Technology of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia; Deans/Vice Deans of Faculties; and Directors and Heads of Units/Offices of UI along with their staff.
