In an effort to enhance its international reputation, the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Indonesia (FMIPA UI) has partnered with Hokkaido University (HU) to offer a double-degree doctoral program between the Materials Science Study Program of the Department of Physics, FMIPA UI, and the Department of Condensed Matter Physics of Hokkaido University.
This collaboration is based on the principle of equality and mutual respect and is based on the principle of diversity which will provide students with cross-cultural experiences and a world-class academic atmosphere.

The signing of this cooperation agreement was carried out by Dr. rer. nat. Abdul Haris, Dean of FMIPA UI, and Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Hiroshi Amitsuka, Dean of the Graduate School of Science, HU, on November 6, 2018, in Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan.
Dr.rer.nat. Agus Salam, Head of the Physics Department, FMIPA UI, stated that there were three cooperation agreements signed by the two parties, namely Memorandum of Agreement on Academic Cooperation, Agreement of Implementation on Student Exchange, Agreement of Implementation on Double Degree.
Program Double Degree This, he said, will soon be implemented by sending three students from the Materials Science Doctoral Program to register at Hokkaido University who are currently actively conducting research at RIKEN: Redo Ramadhan, M.Si., Suci Winarsih, M.Si., and Tri Utami, M.Si.
The FMIPA UI team was welcomed and welcomed by a team from the Graduate School of Science (GSS) and the Graduate School of Science (SS) of HU, consisting of Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Hiroshi Amitsuka (Dean of the Graduate School of Science, HU), Prof. Hisao Suzuki, Ph.D. (Director of the Department of Physics, HU), Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Hiroshi Kawamura (Director of the Office of International Academic Support, Faculty of Science, HU), Prof. Dr. Isao Watanabe (Faculty member of the Department of Physics, GSS, HU), Assoc. Prof. Masaaki Kimura, Ph.D. (Faculty member of the Department of Physics, GSS, HU), and Wataru Horiuchi, Ph.D. (Faculty member of the Department of Physics, GSS, HU).
In addition to visiting Hokkaido University, the FMIPA UI team held discussions on collaboration with faculty leaders and Physics Departments at several other leading universities and research institutions in Japan.
