Depok, December 4, 2018. University of Indonesia through the Department of Physics, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences held The 3rd International Seminar on Sensors, Instrumentation, Measurement and Metrology (ISSIMM) 2018 at The Margo Hotel, Depok until December 5, 2018. Dr.rer.nat. Abdul Haris as the Dean of FMIPA UI officially opened this event.
ISSIMM 2018 is a combination of an International Conference that exposes the latest research progress on Sensors, Sensor Systems and Actuators (ICSSSA) and an International Seminar on Instrumentation, Measurement, and Metrology through the following topics:
- Measurement and Control System, Theory, and Application
- Intrumentation Systems and Technology
- Sensors and Transducers
- Big Data and Metrology
- Image and Signal Processing
- Software Development for Instrumentation.
- Computational Intelligence Technology
- Internet of Thing and Network of Sensors

This international seminar includes plenary speeches which was conveyed by Keynote Speaker yakni Prof Ryota Nagasawa, Tattori University, Japan; Prof. Lee Yoke Heng, National University of Malaysia, Malaysia; Prof. Dr. Muhammad M. Hussain, King Abdullah University of Science and Technology; Prof. Bambang Kuswandi, University of Jember, Indonesia and Prof. Wisnu Jatmiko, University of Indonesia, Indonesia.
In addition to the Keynote Speaker, leading researchers and scientists from around the world will join together to share the latest research findings, as well as compete to present the research findings of selected participants.
Participants include academics, researchers, students, and practitioners from various industries and authorized institutions, both domestic and international. The papers presented will undergo a peer-review process. peer reviewed and selected papers will be published in the IEEE Xplore Conference Proceedings indexed by Scopus.
This annual event in physics and its applications is a joint initiative between the University of Indonesia (UI), Brawijaya University (UB), Gadjah Mada University (UGM), Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS), and Airlangga University (UNAIR). The Institute of Instrumentation and Metrology (Puslit KIM-LIPI) and ISASS also provided technical support for the seminar.

Dr. rer.nat. Abdul Haris stated, “Through this international seminar, the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Indonesia, contributes to improving the quality of international publications and the expertise of researchers in physics and its applications, in order to encourage the development of physics at the international level.”
Previously, the 1st ISSIMM 2016 was held in Malang, Indonesia, on August 10-11, 2016. It was followed by the 2nd ISSIMM 2017 on August 25-26, 2017, in Surabaya.
Dr.ing. Cuk Imawan, conference chairman, stated, “ISSIMM 2018 aims to promote national and international collaboration as a research network related to these topics. As is known, interest in these topics has grown rapidly in recent years.” He also mentioned that 140 full papers on the presented topics had been submitted.
This activity is expected to enhance national and international research networks and future collaborations, as well as provide scientific and community benefits.
