A number of students from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Indonesia (FMIPA UI), achieved remarkable accomplishments at the national-level selection of the 2025 National Mathematics and Natural Sciences Olympiad for Higher Education (ONMIPA-PT), held on 16–20 November 2025 at Universitas Padjadjaran, Bandung.
In this final selection stage, UI sent a total of 15 participants from various faculties. Most of the participants were FMIPA UI students, while the other two came from the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Engineering.
In this competition, which was participated in by 64 contestants across four fields—Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology—the UI contingent succeeded in winning 11 awards, consisting of 1 gold medal, 4 silver medals, 3 bronze medals, and 3 honorable mentions. The highest achievement was earned by Muh. Zaidan Naja in the Physics category, who won the gold medal. In the Physics field, other FMIPA UI students, Kuncoro Nugroho Sakti Muhyi Mustafa and Ahmad Amartia Nurfiqri, won silver medals, while Vifky Josia Simatupang received an honorable mention.
In the Mathematics category, FMIPA UI added two silver medals through Irfan Hanif Yamashita and Bryant Farrel Titanius, as well as two bronze medals through Patrick Darian and Elizabeth Loretta Willyanta. In the Chemistry category, Aryo Razak from the Faculty of Medicine won a bronze medal, while Muhammad Arinal Haq from the Faculty of Engineering and Milan Baros Silitonga each received an honorable mention.
This national-level selection is the culmination of the 2025 ONMIPA-PT series, which began with selections at the university and regional levels. In this stage, participants were tested through three types of questions: multiple choice, short answer, and essay, covering a wide and challenging range of material.

The Mathematics category covers linear algebra, algebraic structures, real analysis, complex analysis, and combinatorics. Meanwhile, the Physics category includes classical mechanics, quantum mechanics, electrodynamics, thermodynamics, statistical physics, and modern physics. The Chemistry category tests inorganic chemistry, physical chemistry, organic chemistry, and analytical chemistry, while the Biology category encompasses cell biology, molecular biology, bioinformatics, biotechnology, genetics, physiology, metabolism, growth, development, reproduction, behavior, biodiversity, evolution, and ecology.
ONMIPA-PT is organized by the Directorate of Learning and Student Affairs of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, with participants coming from universities registered in the Higher Education Database (PPDIKTI). The success of the UI congtingent cannot be separated from the support of the university and faculty leadership.
Throughout the event, support was provided by the Head of the UI Achievement Sub-Directorate, Alfian Syahmadan Siagian, M.Hum., as well as the FMIPA UI Student Affairs Manager, Prof. Dr. Dewi Susiloningtyas, S.Si., M.Si. The mentors who guided the participants from the early stages to the end of the competition also played an important role, including: Dr. Adam Badra Cahaya (Physics), Ryan Kasyfil Aziz, S.Si., M.Si., Ph.D. (Mathematics), Iman Abdullah, S.Si., M.Si., Ph.D. (Chemistry), and Tety Maryenti, M.Sc., Ph.D. (Biology).
The Dean of FMIPA UI, Prof. Dede Djuhana, Ph.D., expressed his pride in the students’ achievements while emphasizing the importance of a healthy competitive culture and consistent support from mentors.
“This achievement is not only a reflection of the students’ academic abilities, but also proof of their hard work, perseverance, and the strong collaboration between students and mentors. We hope this success will inspire all students to continue sharpening their skills and excelling, both at the national and international levels,” said Prof. Dede.
The Dean added that this achievement is clear evidence of FMIPA UI’s and UI’s dedication to fostering an excellent academic culture, while also inspiring students to continue developing their potential and achieving success at various levels. He also expressed his gratitude and appreciation to all parties who contributed to the success of the UI contingent.
“The leadership, as well as the entire FMIPA UI community, would like to express our deepest gratitude and highest appreciation to all students, mentors, and everyone who has contributed to this success,” he added.
