A number of students from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Indonesia (FMIPA UI) recently held a roadshow to socialize the importance of environmental sustainability in Indonesia in various Senior High Schools (SMA). The activity, which took place on August 5-16, 2024, was part of the flagship work program of the BEM FMIPA UI 2024 Science Department, namely the UI Science Olympiad (UISO) 2024.

Carrying the theme “Towards Sustainable Environmental Transformation”, this activity aims to educate high school students about environmental issues so that they can better understand and take real steps to increase their sense of concern for the environment.

Through this roadshow, BEM FMIPA UI also encourages students’ interest in participating in the 2024 UI Science Olympiad competition.

“This activity not only increases environmental awareness, but also encourages the interest and active participation of students in exploring their critical thinking through the 2024 UI Science Olympiad,” said Muh. Nabil as the Chief Executive.

So Nabil said UISO could be a good opportunity for students who are challenged to explore their potential in the fields of science and technology.

“UI Science Olympiad 2024 can be a good opportunity, and provide experience for high school students to explore their interests and talents in the fields of science and technology,” he said.

UISO 2024 is a national level competition event intended for high school (SMA) students and university students throughout Indonesia.

Not only challenging participants with creative and innovative solutions from each competition branch held, UISO 2024 also educates the younger generation about the importance of maintaining environmental sustainability.

The Roadshow activity was successfully carried out to various Senior High Schools (SMA) with a total audience of more than 2,000 participants. The roadshow activity which was carried out to several Senior High Schools (SMA), was an educational activity for students related to environmental issues that are currently rampant around us, starting from air pollution, energy transition, to the implementation of sustainable city.

Not only that, the students hope to provide a deeper understanding to students about current environmental problems and invite them to contribute to creating creative and innovative solutions through competitions.

Thus, the younger generation not only becomes a witness to change but also becomes part of sustainable environmental transformation.
