Depok — The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Indonesia (FMIPA UI), received a visit from the School of Multidisciplinary Sciences and Technology, Institut Teknologi Bandung (SPITM ITB), on Wednesday (January 28, 2026). The visit was conducted to learn about the management of the Medical Physicist Professional Study Program that has been implemented by FMIPA UI.
Dean of FMIPA UI, Prof. Dr. Tito Latif Indra, S.Si., M.Si., stated that FMIPA UI supports ITB’s efforts to develop professional education in the field of medical physics through inter-university collaboration.
“Professional education in medical physics requires academic readiness, qualified human resources, and a strong clinical network. FMIPA UI is open to sharing its experience with ITB to ensure that the planned establishment of this program can be implemented effectively and sustainably,” said Prof. Tito.

Dean of FMIPA ITB, Prof. Ir. Wahyu Srigutomo, M.Si., Ph.D., stated that the plan to establish a Medical Physicist Professional Program at ITB is a strategic step to address the national demand for professional medical physics personnel.
“Through this benchmarking visit to FMIPA UI, we aim to learn from the management of an established professional program, including its academic aspects, human resources, and clinical collaboration with hospitals,” said Prof. Wahyu.
During the discussion, SPITM ITB explained its role as the manager of multidisciplinary postgraduate programs, including professional programs. ITB also conveyed its plan to send three faculty members as students to UI’s Medical Physicist Professional Program in the upcoming semester through the Universitas Indonesia Admission Selection (SIMAK UI).

During the discussion, SPITM ITB explained its role as the manager of multidisciplinary postgraduate programs, including professional programs. ITB also conveyed its plan to send three faculty members as students to UI’s Medical Physicist Professional Program in the upcoming semester through the Universitas Indonesia Admission Selection (SIMAK UI).

The meeting also discussed various challenges in the implementation of professional programs, such as funding aspects, the availability of lecturers, as well as the technicalities of collaboration with hospitals for clinical placements and student supervision.
FMIPA UI expressed full support for the plan to open the Medical Physicist Professional Study Program at ITB so that it can be realized as soon as possible. This support is expected to strengthen the availability of professional medical physics personnel in Indonesia.
The visit was attended by FMIPA UI leaders and program administrators, including the Vice Dean for Education, Research, and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Anom Bowolaksono, Ph.D.; the Manager of Partnerships, Ventures, and Alumni Relations, Dr. Lukmanda Evan Lubis, M.Si., F.Med.; the Head of the Master’s Program in Medical Physics, Prof. Dr. Supriyanto Ardjo Pawiro, M.Si., Ph.D.; the Head of the Medical Physicist Professional Program, Dr. Akbar Azzi, M.Si.; as well as faculty members of Medical Physics, FMIPA UI.
