Initiating the UMKM GO Portal, FMIPA UI Students Won Third Place in the 2021 BI Central Kalimantan Scientific Writing Competition

Another proud achievement was successfully achieved by FMIPA UI students. This time it was Tritunggal Agus Saputra’s turn, a student from the 2017 Actuarial Science study program who managed to take home third place in the 2021 Central Kalimantan Bank Indonesia Scientific Writing Competition.

Followed by 140 participants from various backgrounds, such as students, lecturers, UMKM actors, and even government employees, the competition which was held from 4 to 21 June 2021 was made possible thanks to the collaboration between the Representative Office (KPw) of Bank Indonesia (BI) of Central Kalimantan Province, the Central Kalimantan Provincial Government, and the Central Kalimantan National Entrepreneur Network (JPN). The theme presented by the committee in this competition was Strategy for Strengthening the MSME & Tourism Sector in Accelerating Economic Growth in Central Kalimantan.

In this competition, Tritunggal compiled a scientific paper entitled “UMKM GO” as a Strategy for Synergy of Coordination and Digitalization in the Framework of Strengthening the MSME and Tourism Sectors to Accelerate the Economy of Central Kalimantan.

Based on research from various data and information literature conducted by Tritunggal, there are four biggest obstacles for Central Kalimantan MSMEs in developing their businesses, namely marketing problems (22%), competition problems (17%), capital problems (16%), and also raw material availability problems (16%). Furthermore, Tritunggal made a modeling related to the percentage of contribution of the processing industry (including MSMEs) to the Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) of Central Kalimantan in year i using Multiple Linear Regression Analysis, and the results of the modeling showed that the most influential factors were Capital Partnership and External Capital.

On that basis, Tritunggal initiated a portal called UMKM GO which focuses on integration and digitalization. The portal will later aim to support UMKM actors in Central Kalimantan in assisting with marketing. This portal will also be equipped with various other derivative programs, such as UMKM GO Connected which functions as a forum to bring together UMKM actors with investors in conducting partnerships, UMKM GO Financed which aims to provide convenience for UMKM actors in obtaining financial services such as capital, investment, and insurance, to UMKM GO Global which can facilitate UMKM actors in marketing their products outside the region and abroad.

Through this achievement, Tritunggal hopes that his innovation can be realized with assistance from various parties, including the Central Kalimantan Representative Office of Bank Indonesia and the Central Kalimantan Provincial Government.

“What is certain is that (the hope) is that this UMKM GO can be truly considered and can be realized with assistance from the Central Kalimantan Bank Indonesia Representative Office and the Central Kalimantan Provincial Government,” said Tritunggal in an interview with the FMIPA UI Public Relations Team.

“In the future, I want to continue to contribute, of course to my own region, namely Central Kalimantan,” added the man who is familiarly called Tutung by his friends.
