Lunch Talk: Signing of the Student and Scholar Agreement between FMIPA UI and the University of Leiden

At the routine Lunch Talk event held by the Research and Community Service Unit (RPM) FMIPA UI on Thursday (26/03/15), the Student and Scholar Agreement was signed between FMIPA UI, represented by the Dean of FMIPA UI, Dr. rer. nat. Abdul Haris dengan Prof. Dr. G.R. de Snooas Dean of Faculty of Sciences University of Leiden, Netherlands. In their second visit to FMIPA UI, the delegation from the University of Leiden expressed their enthusiasm for the future cooperation between the two institutions.

Present at the Lunch Talk event and the signing of the Aol between the two universities, in addition to all the teaching staff of FMIPA UI and the leadership of FMIPA UI, there was also a delegation from the University of Leiden, namely Drs. G.J. van Helden LL.M.MPA, Executive Dean Faculty of SciencesProf. dr. L.J. Slikkerveer, Chair Leiden Ethnosystems and Development ProgrammeProf. dr. H.P. Spaink, Chair of the Institute Biology LeidenDr. P. J. A. Kessler, Prefect/Director Hortus BotanicusProf. dr. ir. H. H. de Iongh, Head of the Department Conservation Biology, as well as Dr. B. A. Reith, Leiden Ethnosystems and Development Programme.

Prof. dr. H.P. SpainkChair of the Institute Biology Leiden Faculty of Science, University of Leiden in its presentation, besides introducing the University of Leiden, also held a discussion with research lecturers from FMIPA UI regarding the possibility of holding prospective collaborations between the two universities, especially for the Doctoral (Ph.D) level in the field of ecological communities with next-generation technology. e-DNA monitoring tool which can later be applied to research in the environmental field. Dr. rer. nat. Abdul HarisThe Dean of FMIPA UI expressed his hope that, “The signing of Aol with the University of Leiden is the initial step of FMIPA UI in its contribution to the University of Indonesia in overcoming various national problems in Indonesia, especially those related to education and research.”

In Student and Scholar Agreement between FMIPA UI and the University of Leiden, among other things, contains a student exchange agreement. (student exchange), pertukaran dosen penelitian dan staf pengajar, dan anggota staf lain (staffs exchange), exchange in the field of teaching activities and academic materials, publications, references and other related information (academic materials, publications, reference) as well as exchanges in the field of academic and scientific activities, such as courses, conferences, seminars, symposiums or public lectures. (short-term course, international conference, general lectures), as well as cooperation in the field of research between research staff, department staff, and study assignments of academic staff from both institutions. (research collaboration). Through the signing of this Aol, in addition to realizing cooperation in the field of education and research between FMIPA UI and the University of Leiden, it is also hoped that it will provide improvements, especially for the quality of science and technology education in Indonesia.
