Prof. Dr. Ivandini Tribidasari Anggraningrum, M.Si. Professor of Chemistry, FMIPA UI was inaugurated as a member of the Indonesian Academy of Sciences (AIPI) in 2021 on Tuesday, September 28, 2021.
He was elected as a member because his expertise and achievements in the field of science and technology have been recognized by the scientific community. His expertise and achievements are considered to have a positive impact on the development and utilization of science and technology to the government and society to achieve national goals.
To confirm membership, the 2021 AIPI Member Inauguration Lecture was held on Tuesday (28/9/2021) virtually via zoom meeting and broadcast live on the AIPI Youtube channel.
The event was officially opened by the General Chairperson of AIPI, Prof. Dr. Satryo Soemantri Brodjonegoro. In his speech, he explained that the AIPI members who would deliver the Inaugural Lecture were the result of the 2020 election.
“In connection with the issuance of Presidential Decree Number 31/M/2021 concerning the Ratification of the Appointment of Members of the Indonesian Academy of Sciences, on behalf of AIPI, we congratulate the appointment of new AIPI members. We can convey that based on Law No. 8 of 1990 concerning AIPI, AIPI membership is valid for life and is the highest honorary recognition in the field of science in Indonesia,” said Prof. Satryo.
The activity, which carried the theme of Science from Medan Merdeka, lasted for four days, and was attended by more than 150 participants from various scientific backgrounds. On the first day, lectures were delivered by new members of the Basic Science Commission (KIPD), one of whom was Prof. Dr. Ivandini Tribidasari Angraningrum or who is familiarly called Prof. Ivan.
On this occasion, Prof. Ivan delivered a lecture entitled “Conductive Diamond Electrodes as Superior Materials in Various Electrochemical Systems”
Through his presentation, Prof. Ivan explained, “Research on the development of diamond utilization has provided results, including as detectors, sensors and biosensors for the detection of various chemical and biochemical compounds that are useful in health monitoring, online and continuous monitoring of industrial processes, and environmental quality monitoring, which are expected to have the potential to improve health and environmental quality.”
“A lot has been learned in the development of diamonds in various electrochemical systems. One of the biggest obstacles is the technology for making diamonds itself because the machine has not been developed in Indonesia. In addition, of course the provision of chemicals and instrumentation is also a challenge due to the lack of chemical industry activities in Indonesia,” Prof. Ivan added.
Before Prof. Ivan was inaugurated, several FMIPA UI scientists had already joined as AIPI members. They are Prof. Dr. Indrawati Gandjar, a professor in the biology department with expertise in microbiology who was inaugurated as an AIPI member in 2003., Prof. Dr. Terry Mart, and Prof. Dr. rer.nat Rosari Saleh Professor of Physics, and Prof. Jatna Supriatna, M. Sc, Ph.D. Professor of Biology who was inaugurated in 2012.
The Indonesian Academy of Sciences (AIPI) is an independent non-structural institution established with the aim of bringing together leading Indonesian scientists to provide opinions, suggestions, and considerations on their own initiative and/or requests regarding the mastery, development, and utilization of science and technology to the Government and society to achieve national goals.
Keanggotaan AIPI didasarkan atas pilihan dan merupakan pengakuan kehormatan tertinggi dalam bidang ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi di Indonesia.
