A team of students from the Mathematics Study Program, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Indonesia, won first place in the Mathematical Modeling Competition in the Product Estimation Problem category. The team, EVA, consisted of Edbert Theda, Valentino Prasetya, and Abyoso Hapsoro Nurhadi.
In this competition, participants were given a problem involving production data for several types of products from a company. The teams were asked to propose a model that could help the company maximize profits based on market demand and existing production capacity. After elaborating on various potential models, the EVA team proposed a Time Series Linear Model, ultimately winning the competition.
The 2018 Mathematics Modeling Competition (MMC) was part of the 2018 Mathematical Challenge Festival (MCF) organized by Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB). This multinational modeling competition attracted approximately 200 institutions. The finals of the ITB MMC were held from Thursday, September 27, 2018, to Saturday, September 29, 2018.
