UI Open Days 2017: More than 2,500 People Visited the FMIPA UI Stand

The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) of the University of Indonesia (UI) participated in the fifth annual event organized by the Public Relations Office and the Student Information and Communications Office (KIP) of the University of Indonesia (UI). The event, held on Saturday and Sunday, February 18-19, 2017, at the UI Depok Campus Hall, was attended by over 26,000 visitors. They came from all over Indonesia to seek information about UI’s majors and faculties from the most trusted sources. Most of the visitors were high school students.

More than 2,500 visitors came to the FMIPA UI stand. They were very enthusiastic in asking questions to the stand guides who were students from all departments and study programs at FMIPA UI. Most of them asked about study programs, UI entry pathways, and career opportunities after studying at FMIPA UI. This opportunity was not wasted by the FMIPA UI stand guides to explain to visitors about the career opportunities for FMIPA UI graduates, that FMIPA UI alumni have very broad career opportunities in the world of work, even to become entrepreneurs. So far, the public assumes that most FMIPA UI graduates work as teachers. In fact, with mastery ofbasic science, FMIPA UI graduates can have careers in various scientific fields and can compete in the era of globalization.

In addition to the FMIPA UI stand which was crowded with visitors, the FMIPA UI presentation session in the Anex Room was also flooded with visitors. As the FMIPA UI Education Manager, Dr. Dian Lestari was present to provide a presentation regarding lectures at FMIPA UI.

This activity is expected to increase public interest in pursuing education at FMIPA UI, as well as broaden public insight that technological advances occurring in the world cannot be separated from the role of scientists.
