The University of Indonesia (UI) has established a partnership with PT. Schlumberger Geophysics Nusantara (Schlumberger Indonesia) in the field of scientific development and practical studies on the exploration and production of oil and gas. This partnership was marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) by UI Chancellor Prof. Dr. Ir. Muhammad Anis, M. MetandSchlumberger Indonesia Managing Director Ronny Hendrawanon Friday (13/4) at the UI Depok campus. The signing was also attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences Dr. rer. nat. Abdul Haris and the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Dr. Ir. Hendri DS Budiono, M.Eng.
Through this collaboration, Schlumberger Indonesia will donate softwarethatcan support the lecture activities of UI academics, especially students of the Geoscience Study Program (Geology & Geophysics) and the Master of Geophysics and Geography Study Program from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) UI as well as the Chemistry Study Program and Mechanical Engineering Study Program from the Faculty of Engineering UI.
The software that will be utilized by UI in the implementation of courses at FMIPA UI are Petrel G&G, PetroMod Basin Modeling, Techlog Petrophysical Analysis, GeoX Prospect Analysis, OFM Production Analysis, and Reservoir Simulation (Petrel-Eclipse) – which can be accessed at the Geology and Geophysics Computation Lab FMIPA UI Depok campus. Meanwhile, the software to be utilized in the implementation of courses at the Faculty of Engineering UI are OFM Production Analysis, Reservoir Simulation (Petrel-Eclipse), Drillbench, OLGA, and PIPESIM.
In his speech, Prof. Anisstated, “UI appreciates the collaboration between universities and industry, in this case Schlumberger Indonesia. Through the software donation, UI students can enjoy an academic atmosphere with the latest and highest-tech facilities and gain practical experience in oil and gas exploration and production. This further solidifies UI’s position as the best research university in Southeast Asia.”
Furthermore, Ronny Hendrawan said, “Schlumberger Indonesia has collaborated with UI, one of the best state universities in Indonesia, in various ways. Every year, we recruit from UI continuously, and many UI alumni have become professionals at Schlumberger, especially graduates from the Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Indonesia. This time, we are expanding the scope of our collaboration in the form of software technology donations that are expected to support student lecture activities in terms of providing practical studies related to processing, interpretation, modeling, and simulation of oil and gas reservoirs. It is hoped that through this collaboration, Schlumberger Indonesia will be able to contribute to improving the competency level of UI graduates to become superior and ready to contribute to development.”
