On Tuesday (June 28, 2022), the Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at the University of Indonesia (FMIPA UI), Dede Djuhana, Ph.D., accompanied by his team, welcomed a delegation from the Chemistry Department of Hasanuddin University (Unhas), Makassar, in meeting room A, Dean’s Building, UI Campus, Depok.
The delegation, consisting of Prof. Ahyar Ahmad, Ph.D. (Head of the Doctoral Program in Chemistry), Dr. Hasanah Natsir (Head of the Master’s Program in Chemistry), Dr. St Fauziah, M.Si (Secretary of the Chemistry Department), and Dr. Nur Umriani Primitasari, M.Si. (UGM Chemistry Department), came with the purpose of conducting benchmarking with the Chemistry Study Program (Prodi) at FMIPA UI.
Prof. Ahyar, as the delegation leader, explained that this benchmarking activity is part of the Chemistry Department Unhas’s program to exchange and obtain information regarding curriculum, SOPs, program management guidelines, and others.
“We are doing this as preparation for the superior accreditation of the S1, S2, and S3 study programs at the Chemistry Department of FMIPA Unhas,” said Prof. Ahyar.
Meanwhile, Dede Djuhana, Ph.D., in his presentation, outlined the profile of FMIPA UI’s academic and non-academic fields including departments, study programs along with national and international accreditations either in process or already obtained, research and academic collaborations with domestic and international partners, the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (Independent Learning Campus Freedom) program, campus innovation, and community service activities.
Supporting facilities such as laboratories, as well as special work units providing consultancy services, training, laboratory testing, and certification in applied science, were also discussed.
“All of these efforts are aimed at realizing FMIPA UI’s vision to become a leading science faculty capable of playing a role at the global and regional levels to advance scientific development and sustainable development,” said Dean Dede.
The Vice Dean for Education, Research, and Student Affairs at FMIPA UI, Dr.rer.nat. Budiawan, conveyed that his field is the backbone of the university, especially in gaining international reputation for the university, which must be realized through improving student achievements, research outcomes, and increasing reputable national and international journals.
“The direction of activities is indeed cooperation, research collaboration, and academic partnership with international partners. To achieve this, we currently have programs at the UI level including inbound and outbound student exchanges and the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka program,” said Vice Dean Budiawan.
After the presentations by the Dean and Vice Dean of Education, the Unhas delegation, accompanied by the Head of Chemistry Department Dr. Asep Saefumillah, proceeded to the Chemistry Department building at FMIPA UI. There, the Unhas delegation had the opportunity to visit the UI Chem Laboratory, Instrumentation Laboratory, and Basic Chemistry Laboratory. Still at the Chemistry Department, the event continued with a presentation and discussion session with the Department Chair about the profile of the Chemistry Department, including the Graduate Program, Superior Accreditation, and MBKM.
The event was also attended by Dr. Lukmanda Evan Lubis (Manager of Cooperation, Ventures, and Alumni Relations FMIPA UI), and Muhammad Ridwan, M.Eng., Ph.D. (Head of the S1 Chemistry Study Program FMIPA UI)..
