Potensi Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the world of health, realizing a new paradigm for health workers, researchers, and the community.
Even in Japan, there are already hospitals that use robots as assistants to nurses and doctors that are integrated with the hospital’s automated system.
This was stated by Alhadi Bustamam, Ph.D., head of the Data Science Center (DSC) of the Institute of Applied Sciences, FMIPA UI.
“Core dari Artificial Intelligence adalah matematika dan statistika, sementara robot adalah alat penunjang dari eksekusi artificial intelligence tersebut”. ucap Aalhadi.
In line with this, on Friday (25/10) FMIPA UI through DSC collaborated with the Indonesia Medical Education and Research Institute (IMERI) Faculty of Medicine, University of Indonesia, UMG IdeaLab, and Samsung R&D Institute Indonesia (SRIN) to hold a seminar with the theme Artificial Intelligence for Healthcare Towards ‘Indonesia Sehat’ 4.0.
This seminar invited expert speakers including Prof. Budi Wiweko, SpOG(K), MPH as vice director innovation and business development IMERI, Kiwi Aliwarga sebagai CEO UMG IDEALAB dan Risman Adnan sebagai Director of Software R&D Samsung R&D Institute Indonesia (SRIN).
More than 100 participants from various institutions, agencies and universities attended this event. data scientist, researchers and teaching staff, as well as undergraduate and graduate students. Even Dr. Boy Abidin, a presenter on the popular show “Dr. OZ,” was also present at the seminar.
Institutions like PT. Prodia Media Husada and PT. Medika Digital Nusantara also didn’t want to miss this opportunity.
Not only from within the country, several participants were also present from foreign universities, namely Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and Northumbria University.
This seminar program is presented in the form of talk show and booth.
The talk show was divided into three sessions. The first session was moderated by Alhadi Bustamam, Ph.D., accompanying Prof. Budi Wiweko, SpOG(K), MPH, with the theme: Future of Health Services.
Dilanjutkan dengan sesi ke 2 bertema AI Accelerating Healthcare 4.0 yang dimoderatori oleh Dr. Djati Hadoko dengan narasumber Kiwi Aliwarga.
In the final session, participants were given an explanation about Data Science & AI for Healthcare oleh Risman Adnan dengan dimoderatori oleh Dr. Tech. Djoko Triyono.
Continuing with the third session, participants then participated in a Virtual Reality demonstration during the PrimeSkills Showcase session. In this session, participants learned about the procedure for administering IV fluids to patients.

Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Abdul Haris as Dean of FMIPA UI officially opened the event. In his remarks, Prof. Haris stated that this activity was a pre-launch of the AI Learning and Innovation Center UMG Idealab-FMIPA UI, as well as FMIPA UI’s support for the health sector to use artificial intelligence technology, thus realizing the Healthy Indonesia 4.0 program.
Furthermore, he emphasized that with the existence of AI In the world of health and medicine today and in the future, this does not mean that the role of medical professionals, especially doctors, will be replaced.
Instead, medical professionals are required to continue to follow developments in AI technology so they can take the medical world to the next level.
“With AI, researchers and medical professionals can benefit more by focusing their energy and mental resources on cognitive tasks and patient care, thus increasing the chance of saving lives,” said Prof. Haris.
