Depok, May 8, 2026 — The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Indonesia (FMIPA UI), held an assistance program for Affirmation Program students and those from the 3T regions (frontier, outermost, and underdeveloped areas) on Thursday (April 30, 2026). The activity took place in Room 402 of the Pertamina Multidisciplinary Research Laboratory Building at FMIPA UI as part of efforts to improve student performance indicators.
The program is focused on increasing the percentage of undergraduate (S1) students from 3T regions and affirmation pathways who are able to meet the study performance evaluation standards. In addition, this activity is part of a development strategy aligned with the performance contract targets of the Student Affairs
total of 14 students participated in this activity. FMIPA UI also invited Nina Marliyani, M.Si., a counselor from the Student Counseling Center (BKM) of FMIPA UI, as a speaker.

In his remarks, the Vice Dean for Education, Research, and Student Affairs, Prof. Anom Bowolaksono, Ph.D., emphasized FMIPA UI’s commitment to providing a comprehensive mentoring system.
“We are committed to ensuring that every student, especially those from affirmation pathways and 3T regions, receives adequate support so they can adapt to the academic environment and complete their studies within the targeted timeframe,” said Prof. Anom.
The activity was also attended by Dr. Yulia Mariana Tesa Ayudia Putri, S.Si., M.Si., Assistant Manager for Student Achievement Development and Student Ecosystem, as well as Mochamad Ramlih, Assistant Manager for Student Welfare Services.
In its implementation, students first took part in a discussion session with the faculty to share their experiences and challenges during their studies. Several issues were raised, including adapting to the academic pace, time management, adjustment to university learning methods, as well as the need for support in building self-confidence and learning motivation.
This session served as an open dialogue between students and the faculty to better identify and map mentoring needs in a more targeted way.

Next, participants attended a mentoring session with a counselor from BKM FMIPA UI featuring a material titled “Self-Leadership: Road to Success.” In her presentation, Nina Marliyani, M.Si., emphasized the importance of self-management skills as a foundation for academic success.
“Self-leadership is the ability to recognize one’s potential while also managing emotions, time, and goals consistently. This is the key for students to be able to face academic pressure in a more adaptive way,” said Nina.
She also added that students need to develop self-awareness and internal motivation as the main driving forces in the learning process.
“Often, the biggest challenges do not come from outside, but from how we see ourselves. With strong self-awareness, students can build confidence and set a clearer direction for their learning,” she said.
The discussion covered an understanding of academic stress, the concept of self-leadership, strengthening self-awareness, self-management, and self-motivation, as well as strategies for setting goals and building a positive mindset. In addition, students were also invited to discuss various obstacles in applying self-leadership, such as lack of discipline and environmental pressure.

This activity is an initial stage of preventive mentoring aimed at strengthening students’ learning motivation. FMIPA UI will continue this program with more specific follow-up mentoring for students who require special attention, through coordination between BKM counselors and academic supervisors.
Through this continuous approach, FMIPA UI hopes to improve students’ academic readiness while also consistently increasing the study success rate of affirmation students and those from 3T regions.
