Depok, July 23, 2026 — The rapid advancement of digital technology and artificial intelligence (AI) requires higher education institutions to equip students with competencies that align with the evolving demands of the workforce. As a leading science faculty, the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Indonesia (FMIPA UI) continues to expand technology- and industry-based learning opportunities for students through collaboration with Dicoding.
The Dean of FMIPA UI, Prof. Dr. Tito Latif Indra, M.Si., stated that collaboration with industry partners is part of FMIPA UI’s efforts to expand students’ learning experiences and ensure that the competencies developed remain relevant to advancements in science and technology.
“Technological developments, including artificial intelligence, are advancing at a very rapid pace. Therefore, higher education institutions need to provide opportunities for students to develop their academic competencies while gaining experiences that are relevant to technological advancements and the needs of the workforce,” said Tito.
According to him, collaboration with industry partners also provides students with opportunities to gain a broader understanding of the application of science and technology in real-world contexts.
“Collaborations such as this are expected to complement students’ scientific foundations with practice-based learning experiences, project development opportunities, and interactions with professionals. In this way, students will be better equipped to adapt and contribute to the advancement of science and technology,” said Tito.
The development of this collaboration is carried out through a partnership between FMIPA UI and Dicoding, which has been established since 2025. The collaboration in education and strengthening student competencies is realized through the opportunity for FMIPA UI students to participate in the Dicoding Asah 2026 Program, which will begin in August 2026.
“The collaboration with Dicoding was initiated in 2025 as part of efforts to develop partnerships with industry partners in the areas of education and strengthening student competencies. Through this collaboration, we continue to identify activities that are relevant to technological developments and the needs of the workforce,” said Dwi Nurcahyadi, S.Si., Assistant Manager for Partnership Development, Asset Commercialization, and Integrated Area Management at FMIPA UI.
The Asah 2026 Program offers an intensive learning experience that combines self-paced learning, projects, consultations, and collaborative learning sessions with industry practitioners and experts. For FMIPA UI students, this experience can complement academic learning while serving as a platform to develop technical skills, build professional portfolios, and gain insights into the application of technology in professional environments.
Students participating in this program will also have the opportunity to receive various benefits, including a learning scholarship valued at IDR 14 million, the opportunity for learning credit conversion of up to 20 credits (SKS), certification, and experience in building portfolios through projects. These benefits provide added value for students in developing their competencies while preparing themselves to meet the demands of an increasingly digitalized workforce.
In the program, participants can choose one of three learning pathways that integrate AI technology, namely AI Full-Stack Developer, Data Science Specialist, and Next-Gen AI Engineer.
The AI Full-Stack Developer pathway is designed to develop competencies in web-based application development, including Front-End, Back-End, React, and the implementation of AI in application development. Meanwhile, the Data Science Specialist pathway focuses on data analysis and visualization, SQL, Python, Machine Learning, and Mathematics for Data Science.
The Next-Gen AI Engineer pathway equips participants with competencies in Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Generative AI, and Prompt Engineering. The three pathways have learning durations ranging from 376 to 406 hours.
Overall, the learning experience in this program consists of more than 900 hours, comprising over 390 hours of Online Self-Paced Learning, a 250-hour Capstone Project, 200 hours of Reflection & Consultation, and 84 hours of Online Synchronous Sessions with industry experts.
In addition to technical competencies, students also receive training in non-technical skills relevant to workplace needs, including personal productivity, self-development, stress management and adaptability, innovation and collaboration, business presentation, personal branding and networking, as well as job interview preparation.
This opportunity is open to active students from all study programs and academic levels, with active student status maintained until at least February 2027. Through this opportunity, FMIPA UI students can broaden their learning experiences beyond the classroom and develop competencies that support their readiness to face an increasingly digitalized work environment.
Registration for the Asah 2026 Program will remain open until August 6, 2026. Selected participants will be announced on August 12, 2026, while the learning period will take place from August 18 to December 31, 2026. The final academic transcript is scheduled to be issued on January 31, 2027.
Interested students can register for the program through the Dicoding website by creating an account, completing the registration form, paying the assessment test fee of IDR 250,000, and participating in the selection process determined by the organizer.
Through the development of collaborations with industry partners, FMIPA UI continues to provide opportunities for students to develop competencies that are relevant to the changing times. Strengthening skills in digital technology and AI is expected to complement the scientific foundation of FMIPA UI students, enabling them to adapt, innovate, and contribute to the advancement of science and technology in the future.
