The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Indonesia (FMIPA UI), held the Faculty Academic System Introduction (PSAF) for new postgraduate students of the 2025/2026 Academic Year on Friday (August 15, 2025) at the Prof. Dr. Ir. Soemantri Brodjonegoro Hall, UI Depok Campus. The event was attended by more than 200 new students from various master’s, doctoral, and professional programs as part of their academic orientation before the commencement of lectures.
In his remarks, the Dean of FMIPA UI, Prof. Dede Djuhana, Ph.D., stated that the introduction to the academic system serves as FMIPA UI’s initial step in equipping postgraduate students with a comprehensive understanding of the campus academic ecosystem. This also provides a solid foundation for nurturing competent, ethical scientists who can make a meaningful impact on society.
He also emphasized the importance of postgraduate students’ role in fostering an academic environment that upholds ethics and integrity. According to him, studying at the postgraduate level is not merely about academic achievement but also a journey of character development as a scientist.

“Welcome to the FMIPA UI family. As members of the scientific community, you are expected not only to excel academically but also to uphold the values of ethics and integrity,” said Prof. Dede.
He encouraged all new students to actively contribute to creating a healthy and productive academic environment by promoting cross-disciplinary collaboration and openness to diverse perspectives.
“Let us work together to foster a research and learning atmosphere that is inclusive, collaborative, and makes a tangible contribution to the advancement of science and the welfare of society,” he concluded.

The series of activities began with a presentation on the academic information system by the Head of the Master’s and Doctoral Program in Physics, Adhi Harmoko Saputro, S.Si., M.Kom., Ph.D. He explained the use of various academic support platforms such as the Integrated Academic Information System (SIAK NG), EMAS, and Lib UI.
Next, the topic of academic ethics and integrity was presented by Prof. Supriyanto Ardjo Pawiro, M.Si., Ph.D., Professor of the Department of Physics and Head of the Medical Physics Study Program. In this session, students were encouraged to understand the importance of originality in scientific work and responsibility in research activities.
The Head of the Academic Quality Assurance Unit at FMIPA UI, Dr. Dra. Denny Riama Silaban, M.Kom., also delivered a presentation on the curriculum structure and academic regulations applicable within FMIPA UI. She emphasized the importance of understanding the academic system so that students can plan their studies effectively and purposefully.
The event concluded with an interactive discussion session led by the FMIPA UI Education Manager, Rika Tri Yunarti, S.Si., M.Eng., Ph.D. In this session, students were given the opportunity to engage directly with the speakers on various technical and academic matters they will encounter.
The 2025 PSAF for new postgraduate students at FMIPA UI was also attended by the faculty leadership. Among those present were Adi Wibowo, S.Si., M.Si., Ph.D., Chair of the Academic Senate; Prof. Dr. Jarnuzi Gunlazuardi, Secretary of the Board of Professors; Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Budiawan, Vice Dean for Education, Research, and Student Affairs; and Prof. Dr. Tito Latif Indra, S.Si., M.Si., Vice Dean for Resources, Ventures, and General Administration. The event was also attended by managers, department heads, and heads of postgraduate study programs within FMIPA UI.
