Visit and Public Lecture by Prof. Ryota Nagasawa

On Thursday (March 21st), the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) of the University of Indonesia (UI) hosted a visit from Prof. Ryota Nagasawa (Tottory University) for a research discussion and training in the field of remote sensing.

Prof. Ryota Nagasawa was warmly welcomed in meeting room A of the FMIPA UI Dean’s Building by the Vice Deans, the Head of the Geography Department, the Collaboration Manager, the Head of International and Public Relations, and several faculty members of the FMIPA UI Geography Department.

Dr. Djoko Triyono, Vice Dean I of FMIPA UI, expressed his support for the realization of the research collaboration between the FMIPA UI Geography Department and Totory University.

Echoing Djoko’s sentiments, Dr. Supriatna M.T. stated that achieving the goals of research collaboration and international cooperation requires discussions and collaboration with international professors to produce high-quality human resources and papers.

Following the discussion, Prof. Ryota Nagasawa continued his visit with a public lecture. This series of activities, which runs until Wednesday (April 3rd), involves students from undergraduate programs (Geography, Geology, Geophysics), graduate programs (Ocean Studies, Physics, and Geography), and the doctoral program in Physical Sciences.

The topic presented in this public lecture is “Land Use/Cover Analysis for Landscape Ecology.” He explains environmental and ecological issues that can be identified through land use data using remote sensing technology.

Over the next few days at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Indonesia (FMIPA UI), Prof. Ryota Nagasawa will deliver discussions and public lectures with the students and faculty involved. These discussions and lectures include “Basics of Remote Sensing,” “Remote Sensing Application,” and “Applied Remote Sensing for Agriculture.”
